AustralCare originated as a small venture within a larger healthcare organisation, which opened its doors in 1982. The sale and marketing of a limited range of rehabilitation equipment and aids to daily living gradually increased and soon the company offered the services of an orthotist and then an orthopaedic shoemaker.

At that time, the range of products available from other suppliers was sometimes limited by their being agents or distributors for major importers or manufacturers.

We formed a retail operation to provide a specialised service to the community and institutions. The primary purpose of this operation was to establish a centre of excellence to access and offer for sale rehabilitation equipment and surgical appliances currently available in Australia. This service was to be supported by trained staff to provide accurate and reliable information and advice. Staff would assist individuals to trial and select aids that would best meet their needs and would provide product knowledge and support to Medical and Allied Health Professionals in both assessment and prescription.

AustralCare opened as a separate concern in August 1993. While active in other areas, its primary focus of operation is the Wide Bay / Burnett region, servicing from Bundaberg in the North, to Gympie in the South, and West to wherever!

AustralCare currently holds both State and Commonwealth Government contracts. As the ResMed agent, trained staff provide, fit and check CPAP equipment.

The initial goal of providing a specialised service has been met, but the range of products continues to grow and the specialised knowledge and advice of our highly trained and experienced staff is a valuable resource available to the community, institutions and professionals alike.
